How does chronic stress arise?
Stress arises in the mind. It is not a situation in itself, but your assessment of a situation causes you to perceive something as stressful. For example, you may perceive driving as stressful, while your passenger is completely relaxed. The perception of stress varies greatly from person to person.
If you are constantly stressed and can no longer relax, this is called chronic stress. Stress that just doesn't go away.
The causes of persistent stress can be very different: For example, it can arise from the expectations of ourselves, expectations of others or circumstances that we cannot change. The causes of stress are called stressors – but more on that in a moment.
Why treat chronic stress?
Being stressed from time to time is normal. But when the stress permanently it is dangerous. Rest breaks and relaxation are extremely important for the body to regenerate. Without relaxation, your body will not last long - the weakening of your body will then become noticeable through certain symptoms.
Example: You're supposed to run a marathon. Do you last longer if you take breaks or if you run non-stop? Definitely if you take breaks. It's the same with stress. You could also say that chronic stress shortens your lifespan.
Attention: These are typical stress illnesses (stress symptoms)!
Chronic stress can cause much more than just bad moods and sleepless nights. most common symptoms of chronic stress are:
- weak immune system
- depression
- heart problems
- high blood pressure
- anxiety disorders
- digestive problems
- sleep disorders
- lack of concentration
- inner restlessness
- Headache
- loss of appetite
- burnout
And who wants that? Therefore, it is important that you actively do something about stress. But what steps should you take? From talking to a counselor to eating healthy to regular exercise or relaxation techniques for anxiety and stress there is different possibilities to treat chronic stress and minimize its effects on one's physical and emotional health.
Stress can not only cause secondary diseases, but also worsen existing illnesses such as diabetes or heart disease.
In the following section we will introduce you 5 Ways to Treat Chronic Stress before:
Chronic Stress: Treatment with these 5 Strategies
Treating chronic stress is not always easy, as it various causes In addition, the reaction to stress (stress symptoms) varies from person to person - there is no uniform reaction of the body.
In addition, stressors can also be difficult to identify. They often include things like being in a constant rush or an unfavorable work environment. Communication problems at work, conflicts with friends or a family member, and financial difficulties are also common stressors.
Depending on the causes of the stress, one or another method for treating chronic stress may be the right choice:
Palmtherapy: Reduce stress and anxiety quickly and sustainably
PALMTHERAPY is a specialized method to to resolve fears and blockagesThe therapeutic approach is aptly described by the name, as PALMTHERAPY means “palm therapy”. The method uses acupressure points on the handBy stimulating certain points in combination with targeted conversation, fear can be permanently resolved.
The special thing about PALMTHERAPY is that the cause of stress is treated, and that is: fear. Although many people believe that stress and fear are different feelings (they also feel different to a certain extent), every stress reaction is based on fear. The well-known brain researcher Professor Gerald Hüther also describes in his book "Biology of Fear" that fear is at the beginning of every stress reaction.
Through PALMTHERAPY the fear behind the stress can be revealed in just one session and then be resolved in the long term, as the “root of all evil” can be removed.
The method is also suitable for self-users Here you will also find a short Palmtherapy Instructions.
More than 10,000 successfully treated clients and a randomized double-blind study have confirmed the effectiveness of PALMTHERAPY:

By cultivating a sense of calm and serenity, they help you deal with stressful situations more easily.
A Example A proven exercise against fear and panic from mindfulness practice is to breathe in and out deeply, consciously and slowly. Breathing is one of the best ways to connect with yourself and relax.
Hypnosis against stress
Hypnosis can also help to better cope with emotional and mental stress. Therapeutic hypnosis can not only treat fears, phobias and addictions, but also stress.
Hypnosis is a treatment for chronic stress not as acute treatment to understand - in a stressful situation you can't just run to your hypnotherapist. Rather, hypnosis serves as an accompanying form of treatment and can help you to gain more control over your feelings and to face challenges in a more relaxed manner.
If you are looking for a strategy to cope with your stress in acute cases, PALMTHERAPY could be the right method for you.
Sport and exercise against stress
Everyone knows that sport and exercise are important and a good way to reduce stress. But why is that actually the case? The most important reasons are the following:
- Exercise breaks down the released stress hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol and noradrenaline more quickly
- Exercise keeps your body healthy and fit, making it less susceptible to stress (whether mental or physical)
- Sport causes the release of hormones that reduce stress, e.g. endorphin and serotonin
- Sport offers you a distraction from everyday life and its problems – you can finally clear your head!
But which stress therapy is right for you now?
Our personal experience with stress: There is no “perfect” treatment for chronic stress!
Chronic stress can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms of stress. uniform treatment of stress is therefore hardly possible. Everyone also responds differently to different treatments, meaning it often takes a combination of strategies and approaches to find what works best for the individual. Be patient with yourself as you try different methods.
It has turned out to be particularly important that not only the symptoms of stress are treated, but also the stress triggers.
- If above all psychological stress caused by mental stressors, PALMTHERAPY (> Instructions) is the perfect method to treat acute and chronic stress. This is the biggest stress trigger in most cases.
- If, above all, a environmental factor leads to stress (e.g. noise pollution), this should be eliminated.

Frequently asked questions about chronic stress: treatment of stress-related illnesses
How do you treat chronic stress?
The most important prerequisite for treatment is to be able to recognise the stress. Once awareness is there, coping strategies such as breathing exercises, mindfulness exercises, autogenic training or PALMTHERAPY can be used. Find out more here about which Skills for panic attacks can help you. To reduce the feeling of stress in the long term, build resilience and prevent stress from occurring in the first place, hypnosis or a Fear Coaching help.
Which medications for chronic stress?
Effective medication for stress is primarily that which promotes the relaxation response in the body and reduces stress hormones. The choice of medication depends on the individual situation and symptoms. However, it is important to note that medication is only part of the treatment of chronic stress and does not solve the underlying causes. Stress is usually treatable without medication - e.g. through lifestyle changes, diet and natural medicine such as herbal preparations or teas that promote relaxation. The magic word is: learn to deal with stress.
How long does it take to reduce chronic stress?
There is no general answer to how long it takes to reduce chronic stress. The intensity of the stress sensation, the causes and the symptoms of stress vary too much. psychological trauma after the separation or the strong fear of going crazy may take longer than if stress is caused purely by noise pollution, which can be remedied “outside”.
How does chronic stress manifest itself?
Chronic stress can manifest itself in many ways. Broadly speaking, there are three types of symptoms that indicate long-term stress: physical reactions, emotional reactions (of the nervous system), and behavioral reactions.
Typical physical complaints include headaches, neck and shoulder pain, tension, infections and malaise. Emotional symptoms include general mood - such as tiredness or darkness - as well as loss of interest in other activities and anxiety. Behavioral symptoms include excessive eating or drinking, unusually intense exercise programs, obsessive cell phone use and avoiding social contact.
